Again ex-militants give FG 21day ultimatum to tackle N’Delta crisis

Ex-Millitant in the Niger Delta, who called for the scrapping of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, Saturday, issued the Federal Government a fresh 21-day ultimatum to address the fundamental problems of the oil regions.

The ex-militants in a statement by Edward Kalamazoo, AkA General Foreman, said, “The Federal Government needs to abandon PAP, and in its place, implement the recommendations of the government-appointed committee, some years back, which recommended that Niger Delta states should receive 25% of the country oil revenue, as against the present 13%”

They warned in the report, “If they do not meet these demands before the end of September, we have no option but to do what we have in mind.”

The statement read: “It is a sad development that the federal government has not yet shown need to tackle the underlying issues in the region as regards granting of Amnesty in the region.”

“It is important that to solve the problem of the region, the federal government needs to abandon the Presidential Amnesty Programme, and in its place, implement the recommendation by the government-appointed committee, some years back, which stated that Niger Delta states should receive 25% of the country oil revenue, as against the present 13%.
