DR Congo army capture militia leader said by report

Democratic Republic of Congo soldiers have attack a suspected militia leader and paraded him in public, the country's national broadcaster, RTNC radio they reported.

He was from the Mai Mai group and had allegedly been tattooing young boys, telling it would protect them from flying bullets, Jean Paul Ntoto from Butembo police stated.

The suspect is reportedly thought to have regularly attacked military positions in Butembo located in North Kivu.

"He is a Mai Mai leader, an outlaw. When the Monusco [United Nations Stabilisation Mission in the DR Congo] base was attacked on 26 July, we saw him with a spear among a group of people," Mr Ntoto told RTNC radio.

The alleged militia leader was captured with bullets along with two other alleged bandits who authorities said had a gun and ammunition.
